Fishing from shore in the VI

I'll be living in St. John for at least a couple months and was looking for some information on fishing in the islands.

Where is a good place to get a cheap rod and some equipment? Anything on St. John, or just STT?

I've read a bit about the species found near shore, but what do you mostly fish for? What types of lures and bait do you use? Any fishing related information for St. John is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Pete

You can get most of what you need at Kmart on St Thomas including a cheap rod & reel. I get alot of snapper and blue runner from shore, also other assorted small reef fish. Small shiny lures the blue runners and bait for the rest, as far as bait goes they seem to eat most anything.
