Does anyone have any information about early morning yoga classes? Also, I am interested in becoming a yoga instructor, does anyone know of any courses or classes that are available on St. Thomas?

Hi Brandi,

I am currently off island, but when I return late December, I will offer several morning yoga classes! I plan on offering two separate four-week intensives: one for beginners, and another for intermediate advanced students of yoga. The location and times will be announced later. I also offer ongoing classes at the Ritz, Secret Harbour, Emerald Beach, and the Jackson Complex.

What part of the island do you live on? There are classes on the east end, at the Jackson complex-Antilles School (the one I teach is on Weds. nights) on the south side, and some classes central and west. There are several wonderful teachers here on island, just depends on what style you want.

Regarding teaching cert.: there are no accredited schools here. I have spent time at the following two ashrams and would be happy to describe my experiences if you are interested. Adequate certification requires a minimum of 3-4 weeks. I was cert. at the Him Inst. :

Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosphy in Honesdale PA
www.himalayaninstitute.org,

and Satchidanandna Ashram in Charlottesville, VA
www.yogaville.com (or .org?)

Feel free to call me after Dec. 15 with any questions. You can also email me directly at yogaunderthesun@yahoo.com to be placed on my email mailing list of class updates.

Cheers!
