Recommend a machine shop on STT?

I want to have a small part machined in stainless steel. I checked with STT drydock and they wanted to budget 3 or 4 hours at $75 per hour to make it. I think the work should actually take less than one hour ( cut a piece, drill four holes, tap three of them), so I need to find a machine shop that is a little less "marine". Any suggestions?

OK, thanks - I checked with those. Guess there is not too much machine work done locally. I will have to look farther afield.

antillean,
Ask around about Charlie in Sub-Base. I don't know the name of his shop, if it has a name, but you can ask around Crown Bay, Tickles, etc. About half-way between Crown Bay and the airport there is an industrial area on the left. The easier way to tell you is it's the road to Victor New Hideout Restaurant. Go down that road and you will see a sign for Victor's on the corner, pointing you left. Directly across from that left is a Domincano bar/restaurant, and right there on that corner is Charlie. Sorry I don't have a phone number. He always did a great job for us, quick and reasonable. Good luck.

Thanks Juanita - someone else also mentioned that guy. The shop says Quality somethingorother... I have been there a couple of times but never caught him open. He is not listed with the machine shops, which is why I inquired if there might be other machinists lurking about "off the radar". Thanks for the reminder - I will try again there beneath Viktor's. I think the bar across the street is "The Office".

I just had a guy start at the Sub base service center. Island Marine Outfitters. He has worked on professional boat racing team engines in the past. He may be able to help you.
