Leatherback Sea Turtle Nesting Watches

The most popular benefit of SEA membership is the opportunity to see Leatherback sea turtles nesting at Sandy Point National Wildlife Refuge. Turtle watches are led by US Fish & Wildlife staff who are very knowledgeable about this ancient and federally Endangered species.

We still have space for any of the four nesting watches scheduled for this year:

Wednesday – May 30
Wednesday – June 6
Tuesday - June 12
Wednesday – June 20

Nesting watches begin at 8 p.m. and end at midnight or later so are not appropriate for children under 6 years of age. You must be a SEA member to participate but it’s easy to join! Just call 773-1989 for information and registration (required).

Southgate Beach Cleanup: Saturday, May 19th

Please join SEA and the CRABBS Dive Club on Saturday from 8 – 11 a.m. We provide gloves, drinks, and trash bags – you provide the muscle! Leatherback sea turtles have begun nesting on our beach so let’s make it a safe place for hatchlings!
