Hello there! When I first moved to STX, there were constant advertisements by both the orchid and the hibiscus societies. I no longer seem to see them. Does anyone have any contact information?

In addition, I have also heard of classes in painting that are offered somewhere just east of Christiansted by a terrific woman artist. I do not seem to be able to find information on that either.

As this is my third year of living in STX, I am seeking more community involvement in things I love. If anyone knows about these groups or something similar, please let me know. I would truly appreciate it!

Best regards to all,

Dan

Dan,
I believe both groups still meet, and would suggest you call Leslie Hoffman, who is the equivalent of exec director of the St George Botanical Gardens, because I believe each of these groups, as well as the bonsai group, exhibit at times at some of the BG programs. She can probably help. Some of the volunteers who work at the greenhouse/plant sale area at the BG would know too. Orchid gp had a show--at the American Legion---in late Jan or Feb. You were probably busy preping for the ag fair. Hibiscus show is usually at Country Day. For bonsai, it used to be Rudy O"Reilly who is with the Feds in Gallows Bay, or Ferdie who owns the Ferdie's Garden or whatever its called. Ferdie used to be on the board at SEA, so they might have a #.
Jane Aiken used to do art lessons--at Buccaneer and other places. I'm thinking watercolors, but could be wrong. She might be in the phone book--or try asking at Many Hands in town, I thnk they sell her work.
