Hi all. Well, we have 12 days left until we're there for over a month. I'm looking for any advice travelling with 2 little ones(and pregnant), what to expect/plan for Christmas and suggestions for excellent real estate agents. Thanks in advance!

Hello Rachel,

Which island are you going to?

Islander,

We are going to STX. We have found a real estate agent to work with, but I was looking for input from the board on any experiences people may have had with agents, good or bad, things to look out for, etc. Thanks.

Real estate on St. Croix is mainly a matter of budget. The market right now is a seller's market, mostly because of rich EDC guys buying multi-million dollar properties all over East End. You can expect to pay upwards of 450,000 for a nice place in a good neighborhood. I can't say anything negative about our excellent corps of real-estate agents. You will receive outstanding service from them, but Lad Concepcion of Farchette/Hanley is one of my favorites, along with Greg Hamilton. Greg has tons of experience.
As far as things to look for, we could write a book but you'll see when you get here. There are many tales of woe concerning drivers licenses, auto insurance, health care, customer service, politics, you name it, just like any other place. It is paradise with a healthy dose of reality thrown in for good measure. St. Croix is beautiful, love it here, wouldn't live anywhere else. And yes, I've been around quite a bit.
