Well, after months on the message board, and special help from some of you who PMed me about houses, we'll finally be there for our PMV tomorrow afternoon! With any luck, the kids will be registered for school on Monday and we will have signed a long-term lease by Saturday.

So if you see a happy family hanging out on the East End trying hard not to look like tourists, that's us! (I'll be the one with little balloons tied to her flip flops.)

Can't wait!

Welcome! You made it just in time. The islands are saturated with moisture so maybe the East End desert will be a pale green

Well, we've only been on island for about 4 hours now. The traffic (and orchestra of customized honks) near Sunny Isles was just as I had read, and the quality of living on that end just as poor, but surprising nonetheless. All in all, going to sleep with a calmness that I can't remember feeling in years while listening to the sound of waves crashing on the beach makes it all worthwhile!

Hi popflops,
Welcome to St. Croix. I don't understand what the above statement means. Are you talking about the Sunny Isle area? I know some real estate agents like to encourage transplants to locate on the east end, but there really are some very nice areas mid-island and west, too.

I'm sorry, Juanita -- I meant some of the housing immediately surrounding the airport and Hovensa. The shops in Sunny Isle were quaint and I can't wait to shop there in when we move here!

and Lisa, if you didn't hear, tonight is Art Thursday in C'sted. About 10 galleries are open with original shows and most have snacks and wine available for free! Great way to meet the owners of the local art galleries, and some great artists.

So nice to hear this! I move in 48 days and I can NOT wait to be still and hear just that. Oh.... 🙂

I did read about Art Thursdays and told me husband about it. If we can talk the kids into it without too much fuss (ages 7 and 10, so we'll see) I'd love to go!

Completely off topic, but can I just say, "the people here are beautiful and gracious"? Everyone here wants to help and has a smile on their face. Maybe it's the "painkillers" that I've had to drink while on island, but what a treat it is to be greeted with a smile and a genuine caring! I can't wait until we're here for good!

Aqua - We'll both be there since we're sharing a car!
we've met a couple of guys in the past 24 hours who have asked him to come play, so he's very excited and Monday is his first day of work, so we hope he'll make it.
