My 3G phone finally has the 3G icon showing. Now, can someone explain to me what difference it should make?
Thanks.

I saw that on my iPhone as well the other day. Kind of nice. As for the difference, it's like going from dial-up to broadband. If you go to testmyiphone.com on your phone you can run some tests. My last test got around 70 Kbs with Edge and 320 Kbs with 3G.

The only drawback to having 3G is that it drains the battery on my phone a lot quicker than if I just stick with Edge.

But the increased speed and drained battery is only when you are on the internet,, correct???

Yes. The battery will drain faster if you are surfing vs. not surfing, no matter which network you are on.

I have 3G on my new, 8.9 laptop. I haven't run a speed test, but I don't notice much, if any, difference if I am connected to my Broadband VI or on ATT 3G. The battery on the new laptop is supposed to be good for 3.5 hours. I'm not getting anywhere near that.
