hello everyone! this message board has been awsome! the past 2 months i have read almost every thread and have hardly had to ask any questions because everyone has been asking everything for me! so crissy and i will be there next monday, we have EVERYTHING done we put this move together in only 2 months and it hink we did pretty well for ourselves. one thing... we dont have anywhere to live! i mean we're are not moving any cargo like so many of you have done, all we have are our hiking bags 1 big suitcase and my quitar! we pack light! so we plan to stay in a hotel and MAYBE even do some camping on st john ( we both love to camp) but i mean, we cant stay in hotels and camp grounds forever! so ASAP we will be looking for some where to actually live, if anyone knows of anything in the $600-$750 a month range, or of any one looking for roomates please email me before my departure! thanks eveyrone!

Check "the virgin islands now" Google search it. there is a great way to find places to live. You know after reading your post I never thought about a roommate situation. I just found out today there is a position open that I could look into at the Marriott hotel, and I am now thinking, once again ( because i have always wanted to go to ST T). Great Luck in your new venture, I am Terry. from Texas

Hello Amy,

When you get on island, pick up the Island Trader (comes out every Thursday) and the Daily News. There are classifieds for apartments listed in them and then start calling, asking the price and location and making appointments to go take a look at the place. You will find something. Also ask people you meet, if they know of anything, have friends with apartments for rent ect. Also check bulletin boards in mail centers and small groceries.

All the best!!

I am moving from denver, but am originally from NYC. I have been in the culinary field for about 13 years now. I have been thinking about this for 10 years while working my butt of for a rest. ownership group. I am finally doing the move on Oct. 11th, if anyone is in the same field or just someone with good job and living info wants to give me a shout, i would appreciate any wisdom....thanks....

i havent really gotten much info on places to live, i have come to the conclusion that for someone in my place, you've got to wait until you get down there, when i get there... (monday!!!!) my friend and i will be staying in a hotel that rents out monthly, so... i guess it'll be just fine until we meet people and find out what kinda of perminant living is available for us.

Hi Amy-
I also am relocating from Denver to St. Thomas in October. What is the hotel you're staying at that rents monthly? That is what I was going to do...just get a hotel for a while until I find a job and look around the island for appartments.

Thanks

meg,
the hotel is the Best Western Carib. the rooms run about $650 a month. it is located right next to the airport, i spoke with the manager who was very helpful and is from Boston (where im from) he said it is about a 5 minute walk from the airport.
Good Luck!

The hotel is literally at the end of the runway. Taxis probably won't even take you there since its so close. The are on a nice little cove with a beach and since the airport is not Logan or JFK I think the noise should be minimal.

Good luck and welcome.

Hi Jeremy,

YES!!! We should definitely stay in touch and help each other out as much as possible. What part of Denver do you live in? I am in Wash park area...that would be awesome if we could meet up sometime before our ventures and of course on the island???

- That sucks about the Villa Fairview.
