I have a '98 Honda Civic that is in really good shape. It will be $1200 to ship from Jacksonville ( I live in Orlando) but I am uncertain of the taxes, etc. that will be incurred when I pick it up in STT. I read something on here that if your VIN # starts with a 1 or 4 there is no customs duty. What exactly does that mean? Mine does start with a 1. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Jen,

Click onto "Home" at the top of this board and then click onto the link titled "Shipping a Car." You should find the all of the info you need right there.

Any additional questions feel free to ask :)!

I think you can call the DMV to find out the Value that your taxes will be rated on. Also I called tropical and Crowley... one was 1200 and one was 975... i cant remember which, but it might be worth it to call around and save that 200 bucks...

cheers
