while i agree we have no money, i think this would be good for the community.

The point is that the government bought the property for "senior housing". The property was not appropriate for that use. Not sure why boxing (or horse racing, for that matter) should be subsidized by the taxpayers. Meanwhile, as the linked article http://stthomassource.com/content/news/local-news/2012/02/21/vi-answer-desk-massac-facility-become-seniors-housing indicates, we need 450-600 *nursing* home beds. The article says there are 120 in the territory, but I would bet that number is inflated. There is a plan for independent living apartments by the hospital, but NO plan for nursing home facilities. $1.5 million+ down the drain...
