Alternative to Airport Car Rentals

Hi All,

I am in the process of relocating to St. Thomas from Southern California and I have a scouting/ pre-move trip planned for roughly 6 weeks starting next Sunday 1/24. I am hopeful to find an alternative to the expensive on airport car rental options. As I need to rent something for 4-6 weeks I was hoping someone on the board might be able to point me to some alternatives e.g. (residents with an extra car for hire or other rental shops that specialize in maybe older/cheaper alternatives off the airport). Any help or guidance is appreciated.
