Yes a VERY clear day today! You're seeing, from L (west) to R (east): St. Thomas, St. John and Tortola (which appear as one long island) and Virgin Gorda.

Captain Jay, is that a pic of STX from STT?

Today from Salt River STX, we could see everything from Vieques to Virgin Gorda.

Vieques is rarely visible from Salt River , and Tortola is frequently visible, even though they're about the same distance from here. Does anybody know why? Is there a chronic fog bank in front of Vieques?

It's certainly possible, or it might even be St. John. On a clear day we can see STX's north shore from the south side of STJ.

Maybe Vieques is flatter than STT,STJ and BVIs? I know it's a little hard to see it from Salt River, but there are some hills up in the rainforest where you can get a really good view of Vieques, Culebra and you can even see the highest mountain on Puerto Rico!

From Salt River STX, Vieques is not too flat too see, but it's almost always blocked by the atmosphere.

Here are some photos taken from Salt River, STX.

View of Vieques, to the northwest.

Today's view of St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, to the north through northeast.
This panorama is very wide, so keep clicking the image to get the largest view.

Anagada beach with the naked eye from the Northside of STT. Gorgeous-but the mosquitos are awful

I lived on the north shore of the East End for years and, yes, sometimes on clear days you can even see TRAFFIC MOVING on STT. The outlines of STT, STJ, Tortola, and VG are regularly visible.
