AMAZON FREE DELIVERY - a helpful hint!

Many items sold specifically through Amazon (not through their suppliers) and shipped via USPS note "free delivery" if it, or a combination of direct Amazon purchases, total over $35.

I yesterday found a printer on sale for 49.99 which was marked accordingly but when I went through checkout, no free delivery was available and the "pop-up" indicated that my order wasn't in excess of $35. Now this happened to me several months ago on a combination order but I let it slide and ordered the products anyway.

I left my order hanging in cyberspace and contacted Amazon through their website and pointed out to them my confusion since our postal rates are exactly the same as in the contiguous states. Within a couple of hours I received a very nice and apologetic response from an Amazon customer service rep indicating that I should finalize the order and, when I received the order confirmation, I should go to the link posted "here" and enter the order number and the shipping charges would be removed.

Note that this ONLY applies to orders shipped directly from Amazon which say, "free shipping". Hopefully they'll take up my suggestion to remove the restriction built into their ordering system which disqualifies the territory from the free shipping on items sent via USPS - but now you know what to do if it happens to you!

Interesting. I hate dealing with customer service but it is worth it for Amazon. I have finally weaned myself off of them and look what you just did! 😀 I will definitely give this a try.

Last month I REALLY, REALLY wanted a sewing machine and the price difference on Amazon was a lot. It was too heavy and wouldn't ship. So I went over to Amazon Warehouse and had a look at their sewing machines. They had the machine I wanted marked down twenty dollars. It shipped and the twenty dollar savings paid for shipping.

I don't even need anything right now but want to go into my cart and order all the junk I normally would. Does Prime ship to PR?

Just got notification that the printer has been shipped, is expected to be here by Saturday - and there is no shipping charge.

There's been some discussion here on another thread about their Prime package but I don't recall any details so check the search engine for that thread.

I've run into the same shipping problem with Amazon lately.

There has been a change in how they treat us here in the VI as over the last two years that we've been here it has gotten harder and harder to get things shipped and even harder to get the "Free Shipping".

I've lately used E-bay as they are much better at shipping however this last week I found something I couldn't live without and tried to get it from Amazon w/free shipping. I ordered two of the items for a total of $44 and they wanted to charge me $14 in shipping.

At that point I called them, talked to a very nice young lady that waived the shipping on my order but I told her that we are being treated differently here in VI.

Well all hell has broken loose at Amazon regarding their policy and the shipping to the VI as I have received several e-mails from their customer service addressing this problem.

I don't know if anything will ever come of my protest but if enough of us call, and calling Amazon isn't really that bad, and express of displeasure with them it may change things.

I've not received any follow-up but, as noted, everything went smoothly and I too suggested in writing that they review the policy. In the meantime, my intent was just to let others know that the immediate problem is easily fixed.
