Just curious to see if the Vi's have any type of outdoor markets. Craft, flea or farmers markets. What types of things are sold and how big are they if any. Here in Hawaii, the have the Aloha swap meet, which is a pretty big out door flea market. Anything like that there? Also, what is the art scene like on the islands?

Hello Sara,

There are no craft/farmer markets that are every day or every weekend.

The largest art outdoor market type events I would say are 1. The Carnival Food and Craft Fair and 2. The Tillett Garden Arts and Crafts Fair. On St. Croix the Botanical Gardens I believe host several shows that involve art and music at various times of the year. There is also Jump Up - a St. Croix event that involves music, shopping, local arts, food... the Christmas event at Havensight often includes locally made crafts, there is an art show on St. John that features crafts but mainly art work (paintings...), there is a co-op in Charlotte Amalie that sells locally made goods (art work, food products). On St. Croix there is the LEAP program -which involves making art work / wooden scultures from mahagony. There are also several stores/galleries on each island.

Things folks sell; dolls, books, painting, scultures, tiles, ornaments, mahagony items, mask, carvings, pottery, glasswork, vases, jewerly, soaps...
