Ad as it appears in the Daily News:

Now hiring-Math/Science MS/HS Teacher for 2003 - 04. Small class sizes, great work environment. Contact the Coral Bay School, St. JOHN 776-1730 to inquire.

Go figure, I didn't even think there was a HS on STJ.

What are the teaching requirements compared to the mainland? I have reviewed all the information I have found online, but haven't had much luck trying to "really find out the criteria"?

I noticed you didn't get any response! First of all, this (Coral Bay School) is a private school, so their criteria would be different than the public schools. I am not sure of the requirements for the public schools except the teachers are all hustling to take classes at UVI that the school board has mandated. For sure, you have to take VI history, but there may be a grace period since they are short on teachers!!!

Do all teachers have to take VI history? That doesn't make much sense to me. I understand that high school students in the territory must take a course in VI or Caribbean history, but if you were going to be a math or science teacher I don't really see the point. I mean I see how it would be useful in sensitizing you to the environment and history of the place, but I don't think it should be required.
