Yep. Love my generator!

It was a short outage. This time!

I logged about 60hours of outages one year and that was without any storm related incidents.

that is an outrage, there is no reason for non storm related outages to amount to that much time

WOW that sucks, thats a lot of outages!

It's good you have the generator to keep track and document as a fact the amount of outage hours in a year!

It would be interesting to get data from other folks as well.

after alana posted her outages, i thought of our own. we did message wapa because our power kept flickering. they were ready to come out that night to fix it. we had a line rubbing a tree so that caused a lot of our issues over the past 2 weeks.

but even so, i wonder how much time is lost due to power outage

One time it was because WAPA cut my power because they hadn't received my payment for my bill even though I mailed it when received and they finally received weeks later. I pay, after that experience, either online or at bank. However, I didn't realize it until it got dark and noticed all my neighbors had power!

Often the transformers are compromised in my location and have issues due to the lack of maintenance to the poles and growth of the trees, branches, vines and foliage in area.

A heavy rain, a strong breeze, all contribute.
Sometimes, it's nothing at all but a WAPA glitch but always try to report it.
I keep WAPA on speed dial.
Can't always get hold of them, however.

I have someone come, once a year, to change oil, do an annual maintenance service, usually in May, prior to hurricane season and track generator hours from year to year.

It's well worth the expense of buying a generator, even a small one.
I was lucky that this one was already installed when I purchased this house 13 years ago. It's been quite the workhorse as it runs everything for the entire property. I'm so grateful to have it given the amount of outages.

Any sirens? Maybe someone hit a pole nearby?

Nope, wasn't that.

Last time a car hit a pole out in Frenchman's Bay (a few years ago)
it took out power for all of STT/Water Island and all of STJ for a couple days.

It would have been easier to have asked "who hasn't had a power outage on St. Thomas"

It was for that particular day, Mike.
I was trying to find out if it was a localized outage, possibly a transformer problem or island wide as I was unable to reach WAPA, at the time.
