Anyone out there who would know where my husband and I could find employment and a home for ourselves and our cat and dog would be greatly appreciated. Like I said before we will move there around October and we have not been able to find a job through the VI Moving Center Job Search or a place to live that accepts pets.

Hi Nikki,
I found that I couldn't get much for employment before I got on-island. i am on St. Croix. I had emailed out a couple of feeler type resumes with no response.

on Friday I went to the Dept. of Labor on stx. I applied for 3 jobs. Monday morning I got called for an interview. i also had an interview that day for a job where I just walked in to the hr dept. with my resume in hand.

i have had many blessings since being here.

Good luck. If I can help, let me know. You can also check out the www.ajb.org and search for zipcode 00820

Nikki: Have you read through the archives and the moving stories on this board? I think you will find that unless you have a special talent or profession that is being hotly recruited, you will have to be on island to find jobs. Ditto apartments. Having pets will make your search a little harder, but again, it is an "in person" task.

Most people here would tell you that either you should come for a longer visit (a couple of weeks) to check these things out or move here with enough money to keep yourself going for several months while you are figuring it out. You may have to send for the pets when you get squared away.

Thank you guys,
We have been to the island several times and we actually have family and friends that live on the island, but did not want to use them. We were trying to do this on our owm=n, but it looks like we may need their assistance.
Thank you for your input.
