Having done it (retired) three previous times, I've found that I'm not really very good at retiring. But this time, it's for keeps. I hope to do some volunteer work, but otherwise it's just rest, reflection, and writing.

I have my one-way ticket from Tbilisi, arriving St Croix April 12. Reserved a car until I can buy one. Making condo arrangements for a week or two until I can find a long-term lease. Giving away all my sweaters, coats, gloves, and anything else that won't fit into two checked bags and one carry-on. Making the rounds of teary farewells. (You make a lot of friends in post-Soviet Georgia in seven years.)

So after three pre-move visits, I'm ready for the real move.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the excellent advice you all have given over the past few years!

See you soon!

Edward

That's true -- I carried around a fleece in the evenings when I was there in February. And you might want a few things to pack for when you travel... unless your mom will meet you at the airport with a coat like mine does!! 🙂
