If there are any visitors or locals that will be soon arriving/leaving to/ from the following cities (and then obviously flying back home) ....

LA
Philadelphia
Boston
Buffalo NY
Chicago
Connecticut

PLEASE contact Rhea at the STT Humane Society as we are desperately looking for escorts to transport some puppies/dogs from our island "kill" shelter to new adoptive families in these cities.

It does not cost you anything, you will be met at the airport with the dog, they are then checked in and taken to the plane. Upon arrival at the destination airport you are met by the adoptive family - it is just they can not fly without a passenger who is actually on the plane

If you can help please call ASAP as the heat restriction comes into effect soon and then no animals can fly unless they fit under the seat in front of you.

Thanks everyone - here is the number - 340-643-0796

Pia posted this on the Travel Forum and thought some of you may be able to help if traveling to/from the above locations.

I have a friend coming from Philly in two weeks. She works as a Vet at a cat sanctuary, so she'll probably be down to help. I'll ask her. She's coming to STX though.

You'll have to contact Reah @ HSSTT (Humane Society of STT) for that.
I think the STX humane society/animal welfare organization also sends animals to the states so you could check with them directly since you are in STX and easier foryou/ your friends traveling back and forth to visit to do so.

If they do, post their info as well and we'll try to get some more adoptions going. Small dogs can fly in cabin but we will be getting the summer heat restrictions soon, if not already started about flying cargo.Every bit helps as there are so many animals on death row and not enough homes to save them all.

We now have a dog on St John that has been adopted (yay - finally) and she is under 20lbs so can travel in cabin with you - soooooo, if you are flying to.....

Detroit,

Flint,

Grand Rapids,

Traverse City

Please call the ACC 340-774-1625 Tues-Sat 10AM-4PM

Again it does not cost you anything, you will be met at the airport with the dog (or if you are on St John arrangements will be made for you and the dog to get to the airport), and upon arrival at the destination airport you are met by the adoptive family - it is just they can not fly without a passenger who is actually on the plane

If you can help please call ASAP.

Thanks everyone.

Pia

Please keep these programs in mind as all 3 islands have them and are in need of travelers from time to time to get animals to their new stateside homes. Please call your local shelters to see how you can help our furry friends find their forever homes!
