Balsam?

This probably isn't the correct spelling, but I'm trying to figure out the Yankee equivalent to the bush tea that's pronounced bahsam on STT. To me, it smells like a basil. I looked for it in the market this morning, but nobody had any. Surely there's a dried version under another name.
