I was curious to know what kind of money a bartender can expect to make? I realize each establishment is different but I am just looking for a ballpark number.

Thanks,
Lou

Dear Lou,

I really think that nobody is going to be able to answer your question! Sorry!

Many barkeeps on STT and on STJ are most careful about who they employ and do substantive background checks.

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you work corporate, (Ritz, Westin, etc) you have to toe the corporate line.

Again, sorry not be of more help.

STT Resident,

Thanks for the reply 🙂 Do most places pay the bartenders per shift or hourly?

Lou

Lou, that's a variable which is why I said initially that nobody is really going to be able to answer your question in one fell swoop. Some establishments pay hourly, some give shift pay along with tips. In some places you're paid basic shift pay and then get tipped out by the servers and in some places you have to do double duty on different shifts, alternating at the bar and on the floor with remuneration adjusted accordingly.

I WILL add, however that if you are a pretty good bartender, a genuine people-person, and honest to the nth degree, the possibilities here are numerous. Again, sorry not to be of too much help!
