Beware of Thieves

I have been hearing lots of stories about peoples things being stolen from Rainbow Beach at Rhythms.
One couple parked in the lot across the street from Rhythms, they saw some shady looking guys in the lot and made sure they took everything in the jeep with them, after 5 minutes they realized they had left a small bag with some personal items in the back of the jeep, he went to go out to get it and it was gone. They unzipped the back of the jeep and took the bag. Another couple was sitting at the beach and just took there eyes off one of there bags for a minute and the bag was gone. It had a camera, Iphone and ID in it. They called the cops, apparently this has been going for awhile.
Something needs to be done about these Thieves. We now have tourist on island and the cruise ships are back and we don't want this to ruin everything for the businesses.
So everyone be careful with your belongings, don't leave anything in the car and always keep your stuff with you.
I hope they catch these guys soon.

Can't a fella get any sleep here?

The same jokers have been hitting the west end beaches for years now. I personally have been hit 3 times and I had to stop going to my favorite west end beaches quite some time ago. Auto glass is expensive! The police know who's doing it and where to find them. They told me so. Yet it just goes on and on and on...

And, yes, the tourists are losing their stuff too.

Lights out...

Gee, when I saw the title of this thread I thought it was going to be about congress or at least the USVI senators.

Arm your selves. If you beat them often enough, with lets say a baseball bat and they end up in the Hospital a few times and start walking with funny limps, they will eventually get the message,if the Cops won't fix it, Who is it up to ? There is no need for an honest citizen to have to deal with this crap on a routine basis. Self police it or lose what you love.

I hope you're kidding? You know if you 'beat' someone with a baseball bat for simple theft you're the one going to jail right? (That's assuming the thieves don't pull out an AK-47 in response.) The better response is to not leave ANYTHING of value in the car in this location AND leave the doors and glove box unlocked or even leave the window partially open in case the thieves are too lasy to check the door lock.

Being the victim. It is entirely up to you. I'll give an honest man a meal or a buck but I have no use for a thief. Don't worry I'M from the Federal Gov and we are here to help all of those who REFUSE to take care of them selves, trust me,we know whats best. You are either a victim or a stand up citizen,it is high time for people to stop wining and make a freaking stand.

No you can't win them all but you the citizen has the choice FIGHT OR FLIGHT. If it offends you to take care of your selves, lay some traps with video and record the whole crime. It will be very hard for a District Attorney to deny video evidence. You say the Cops won't make a stand on your behalf. Go over their heads.

GoodToGo

That just leaves you open to the next level of attack. When I left the truck unlocked and the windows down, they stole my battery.

OK, time to wrap the keyboard in duct tape again....

LOL...Jay! Maybe the police were giving it to me straight. I never heeded their "cookie" advise and look what happened to me!

West end beach goers, keep an eye out for these 2 guys. The police knew exactly who I was talking about long before I finished describing them. I make no accusations. Just be alert.

One big SOB - black, about 6'2" and 280 lbs and one small, wiry SOB - black, about 5'6" and 150 lbs. They travel together. The big guy sometimes pretends to be picking up stuff on the beach. I've watched the little guy pretending to wash a car with a dry rag. They pretend to be fishing. The big guy goes through the motions of baiting a hook inside a "tackle" bag but when he's done, there's no bait on the hook. They pretend to be working under the hood of their car. I've seen them driving a new gold-colored pick up and a gray wreck of a sedan. They were present 2 of the times I lost my glass. Hind sight is 20/20.

Be safe out there!

Aussie. That is a damn good description of the thieves. You have done half the work for the island, now all someone has to do is video tape them in action and keep pushing the issue. Take it as high as you can, some times the media can be your friend. If you become involved, always check your six.

I want to check out these two next month, just for the hell of it.

Thanks chockman. Heh heh, yeah, a new skill that I can add to my resume as a direct result of moving to the islands - the ability to give an accurate description of the suspect to the police.

LOL...never saw that one coming 😀

You would be surprised to see, some of the incident reports I have read. Give as much accuracy as you can. Full time witness employment could be hazardous to ones health. Be safe and keep up the great descriptions. It's always good to know the trash in your neighborhood.

Mini exploding dye packs should be given out at the airport and cruise dock.

Would be nice to dye these SOBs flourecent, glow in the dark colors. LOL Something REALLY hard to wash off.

For those with more expensive tastes how about one with a mini video recorder built in? Would love to see there face when it goes off.
Blam! then Damn! What just happened? LOL

HAHAHAHAHA!

You are aware chockman that a fish rots from the head?

Water, sh#t, and attitude all flow down hill. Until the top changes nothing downhill will change.

I was here a whole two weeks before I was mugged, the cops and everyone but me knew the modus operandi yet it is not stopped. Ask yourself why is that?

Michaelds9. You know that is exactly and I mean exactly what the Democrats in Mass thought . They thought it could not be changed, they thought they couldn't loose their Seat to Republican. And low and behold they lost their party vote,IT DID CHANGE.

I feel sympathy for you being mugged but, as I was not there I do not know the whole situation,so I won't speculate on the subject.
It's kind of like a country song. You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. You can make a difference if you are willing to stand up and push the issue. Like I said before the media can sometimes be your friend. If you don't have the documentation to back up your claims of violence, the cops don't care,if they won't listen why should anyone else. Sometimes a person may just be out numbered but Never lay down and surrender. It's a mind set, cast in stone.

I dare say there is a lot more good people in the Virgin Islands than there is bad. Document and keep pushing.:-) Smile and enjoy your weather. I'M freezing my butt off here.

Crime Stinks

About 3 weeks ago a good friend of my was checking her road side mail box when 2 middle school boys rode by on bikes. One stopped long enough to grab the K-Mart bag from the front seat of her car. They both peddled as hard as they could to get away.

She yelled "stop, stop" until she remembered what was in the bag. My friend has the downstairs apartment where the folks upstairs have 4 dogs. Counting my friends dog that makes 5 that live there.

So my friends habit is to rake up the dog poo from 5 hounds each day, double bag it, and drop it at the trash collection area. She always stops to check her mail on the way to the dump.

That's right. Dog poo in the K-Mart bag. I'm sure you can imagine her reaction when she realized her dog poo had been stolen.

We could only imagine the boys reaction until her grand daughter came home from school a week later and told her the store of 2 boy that grabbed a bag from a car only to find out that crime stinks. All the kids at school now call the boys s**t head.

So forget the dye packs, just bag your dog poo and leave the car window open.

Excellent advice Jay. 🙂 Turn the other cheek, again and again and again and again. The Cops might not be perfect but they are not the ones jacking you up and they can't be everywhere all the time.
