Good morning, everyone,

Doing a little kitchen remodeling at our house on STX and wondering if anyone on island sells Bosch dishwashers here? They seem to have the best ratings these days (KitchenAid, too, but their dimensions are a little too big for our small space). Anyone??

Sears has them. Right. No Sears on island. BUT. Go to the Sears.com web site and write down the make, model, and other information for the one you want. Call or visit the Kmart (....I'm on WI so I'm only assuming that you have a Kmart on STX) and have them special order it for you. Yes, it will be a bit more expensive than the pricing you see on the Sear's web site but if this is the appliance that you want that fits your needs, then this is one option to get it.

Thanks, FL Barrier Island! Yes, there is a Kmart AND Sears appliance store here on STX so will check with them once I get the exact model, specs, etc.

Home Depot would be a good one to check with ordering as well. I've heard some nightmare stories about ordering via Kmart/Sears in the last year.

You can order Bosch dishwashers via Amazon and have them shipped directly to Paradise Freight or VI Cargo.

Be very careful about getting a high end appliance. Even with surge supressor our Asko dishwasher got cooked by our friends at WAPA.The weather, salt air and bugs that like to get into the electronics even the best ones don't last. I got my replacement dishwasher from Home Depot.
I went on line found the one I wanted and had it shipped to the store.

Acknowledge there are appliance horror stories from all angles. We've ordered via the Big Kmart on STT 3 times now and never had any problems (not saying there won't be in future but just saying in our experience - no problems YET). We did ship a stove down here from the States - purchased from Sears. (We were shipping a full container so had some room to throw a new stove in there as well.) While still under warranty, had an issue with the stove. Contacted Sears Service # in the States, they contacted repair person on St. Thomas and the guy came over and fixed all under warrenty. We did have to pay the Water Island ferry round trip fee ($10) out of pocket but otherwise the service/repair was all covered under warrenty.

There are other ways to order from a company in the States (including Amazon) and have it shipped by a consolidator but we found this method of ordering via Kmart to be more convenient for us. We were able to purchase the make/model that we wanted and didn't have to hassle with going through a consolidator, customs "prison", etc. We paid Kmart with credit card when we placed the order. Kmart called when the appliance was unloaded and at the store (~4-6 weeks from time of order). We picked it up from the Big Kmart and brought it back to the house. Kmart will deliver and do the installation for residences on St. Thomas and St. John.....but the trucker they have will only deliver to The Saint on St. Thomas. Then, we are responsible for getting it from The Saint/Water Island up to the house and installed. For us though....having order through Kmart and them being responsible to get it into the territory/to their store was a lot more convenient than managing the tracking/shipping ourselves.

P.S. Has to be the Big Kmart. The Little Kmart doesn't offer this option.
