BBVI has been very very slow for the past hour or so. Anyone else having problems?

For the $100/month service.

Their answering system says that they are open until 8:00 but all you get is an answering machine. So far no callback.

No callback. On average these days I get about 7/2. That is half the speed that I got two years ago. Things are going the wrong direction.

My BBVI was very slow last night between 7 and 9. It was torture trying to watch Netflix.

Maybe it is time for a change.

I too have been having issues with broadband. Not sure what going on lately. Ended up switching to innovative and so far so good. At the end of the day 100$ for 5Mbps or 40$ for 18Mbps for six months. That a deal with nothing to loose.

I buy 12 Mps from Inovative and consistently get 11-12 download speeds. The service has been mostly reliable and it is relatively easy to get hold of tech support.

Another evening of blazing fast Internet from BBVI. It works at its best during the day when you can talk to a tech, but in the evening, not so much.

They are coming on Wednesday to see if I qualify for the speed upgrade that they have been talking about for the past two years. $100/mo.

I have no clue what the numbers mean but, taking a break from dinner party clean-up (any excuse works!) my basic package Innovative is 3.07 down, 0.78 up and 33 ping. I'm now paying total $160/month for landline, cable (DVR, HBO, SHO) and the basic internet.

What are the speeds and prices?

I just checked mine and am now getting 6.16 down and 3.28 up. Basic package. You can go onto the Innovative website to get the rates. Can't say I've noticed any difference today but I'm a very basic user, no big downloads, don't watch movies, etc. through the computer.

Much Better!
Broadband VI came out today and replaced my old radio with a new one. Their new improved bandwidth offering.
For $100/mo, I now get:

With Innovative you get 25/5 with high latency. With BBVI I now get 25/5 with low latency.
With Innovative the ping timing is often over 100ms.

I'm getting exactly what you posted above with 11ms ping times.
This is with the 79.99 a month plan.
Good to see competition rising!

The BBVI ad on the Daily News on line edition still says they are TWICE AS FAST AS DSL.

LOL!!!!

This is 2016!

For 50 bux/month we should be getting much better.

If BBVI don't step up it's service they will end up like so many other failed companies in the USVI.

Competition is great for us consumers!

Just sayin'

Rotor, We have Innovative, at three separate locations on STJ, with very consistent 25+/5+, and 7-10ms ping.

If you were getting 100+ms, or know someone who is - something's not working right!

For 100$ a month with innovative I get 50mb/s down and 10mb/s up... 7ms ping

Not sure where you got your info but this is what my Innovative's $99/mo plan gets me:

My plus plan for innovative(99/mo) got me roughly 5 down and 2 up sometimes.
At first it was getting me 10ish down.
But it got worse and worse to where i was getting 3ish.
I had someone come out once and it went back to 5 again for a while.
That wasnt enough tho.

FYI.....I received a totally unsolicited call from BBVI a week ago saying that in the next couple of weeks they want to come over and replace my old equipment with a high-speed radio. We are on the $99/mo. plan. I was not having any problems and get fairly good speed and consistency. At Coakley Bay.

Just switched to innovative. Had BBVI for years with great customer service but I'm now getting 25mbps for $40 for 6 months, without a 1 year contract, and then it will be the same price as my previous BBVI plan. It was a no brainier and the speed has been consistent. BBVI was ripping off its customers for 5mbps at $100.

@bobn I agree with your statement that it is a no brainer based on speed, cost and consistency. I have been with Innovative for over 2 years with no regrets.
However quick correction to your cost assessment. When your 6 months are up the cost will go to $80 for the 25Mbps plan. If you are willing to pay the $100 a BBVI customers pays for 5Mbps you will get 50Mbps from Innovative. No brainer indeed.
