Does anyone know if cacoa/cocoa butter is sold on St. Croix? In the alternative, do you have a recipe for eggfruit? Was going to make a cheesecake instead of using it in an eggnog. Thanks.

Anxious to hear the answers. Never heard of eggfruit, and I thought cocoa butter was for your skin.

There's actually AN ENTIRE WEBSITE DEVOTED TO EGGFRUIT!

http://www.eggfruit.com/

You must be looking for hard baking chocolate?

Love the website. I could only find a few recipes before that. I guess the cacao butter is squeezed out from the bean and sold in the states for cooking, as best I could find. The cheesecake recipe was some kind of raw food movement thing, so I will make coconut eggfruit bread off the site. Thx.

My neighbor gave me a few off her tree. Had never seen them before.

thank you for yhr eggfruit link. According to the site eggfruit does well in dry climates, and has more nutrition than, carambola.

I would like to plant one.

And speaking of carambola, did you see the food section of Jun 1, 2001 VI Daily News? There's an article about potentially toxic foods, and I'm pretty sure carambola was one that could be toxic if eaten in huge quantities. Maybe you can google to find out more (or maybe I'm not remembering correctly!)
