Okay so I am a motorhead.
I am listening to VI radio and I just now hear an ad for an Easter Sunday drag race on St Thomas.

Not to be confused with illegal street racing.

In The Daily News I find this article: http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/index.pl/article_home?id=17617803

Part of which states:
"For automobile racing, "a lot of this is, in fact, lacking," Richards said. The Legislature appropriated $400,000 in the Fiscal Year 2007 budget for improvement to the drag racing strip in Anguilla.

Richards also said that the Legislature is unaware of how the St. Croix Racing Commission had been carrying out its responsibility as a regulatory body over the activities of auto racing on the island. The commission has rarely met because of a lack of a quorum. "

Then I find that there is a 1/4 mile dragstrip on the south shore of St. Croix!!

Anyone ever been to a race there?

It is close to the airport, just NE of the dump. They have stuff going on there a few times a year; I think just last month or the month before they had some drag race with cars from PR and the VI. I didn't go (I'm not a motorhead!) but I remember seeing the ads in the paper.

There are some big races going on for the Easter weekend. I'm not sure how often they hold races, but they hold races on majority of the major Holiday. Like I mention they are having a Easter Weekend Race, there was a President's Day Race (I think) and Christmas Races. I know for sure you can hear the ads for the races on Isles 95. And come to think about it, the guy that holds the races was on the Isle 95 this afternoon.

Yep Isle95 is what I am listening to.
They are running the race ad several times an hour.
Sounds like the race is on Saturday tho, not Sunday.

I went to a series of races on St. Croix, with a bunch of St. Thomians. The drag strip was not flat in the late 80s (not sure about now) and it was funny to watch the cars bob down the track...

jeep, I think there is one race on Saturday, (which might be eliminations, that's the way they usually do it) and the big race is on Sunday. I would have to listen out today to get the actual dates.

no0ne, the track was done over I think since the 80's. I heard that there was a problem down there last year, after all that rain that we got when it rain for almost a week straight. The rain caused a sewer problem, and that's why the government appropriated 400,000 to the drag strip. It was to resurface it, and fix other problems that the sewer thing messed up.

I don't know a whole lot about the races, I've just went couple of times, and heard the adds on the radio.
