I am off island and want to sell my jeep. Any advice on how to handle title transfer from a distance?

You will need to have someone on island do the transfer for you. I just did this for a friend who had to move off island suddenly. He had a notarized limited power of attorney drawn up giving me the POA to perform any function related to the vehicle to include sale, insurance, license, title and registration. That person will also need a color copy (or two) of your drivers license to have with them when they go to BMV to transfer the vehicle. Some people give the POA to the buyer but I would only do that if you know and trust them.
