Researching career opportunities in the Automotive Industry in the USVI. Looks like there aren't many automotive shops on the islands. I am particularly looking for management opportunities there within this industry. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There are dealerships on both STT and STX but, as is the case for most seeking jobs here, there's not much point approaching any of them until you're physically on island. You can see a listing of what's here in the Yellow Pages of the local telephone book at www.viphonebook.com

If you've not already seen all the information available on this site, see the drop-down menus top of this page which will provide you with tons of material to read through and much very helpful information.

If your willing to work, this is a industry loaded with opportunity. On STT or STX.

There is a true lack of automotive options here. Still can't believe we don't have a GM dealer on STX.
High end options (or anything German) is also missing. Although the road conditions, and the demand may be wanting.

We dont have a gm dealer but Island Auto Group (previously Caribbean auto mart) can do gm warranty work. I believe they also can do Kia. Hendricks does Nissan and Hyundai in addition to Honda. Metro does Suzuki warranty work still I believe. It would be nice to have a list of which cars still can have warranty work done at which dealer as I never see the dealers promoting service

Is Island Auto Group the same management/owners as the old Caribbean Auto Mart?

Caribbean Auto Mart no longer exists on STX. The owners of Metro Motors bought it and it is now called Island Auto Group but management has remained largely the same.

I believe the Lamberts still have CAM on STT but im not sure

Metro Motors always had the better reputation.
Sounds like a step in the right direction.

Locals and transplants alike tend to distrust dealerships for repair services in the VI. Many like myself prefer to use smaller independent shops or backyard mechanics whom they form close relationships with. The only dealer I've ever used here was Hendricks Honda for my Acura but I have two other vehicles that have never been to a dealership for service.

In STX, just keep clients cars from being stolen and you’d be ahead of your competition! 😀

FINALLY making headway on the situation. Priceless.
