Great show. I think Chris should host the series. He's a great entertainer as well as a great realtor. Notice they never talk about the association fees for condos.

Watched both 1/2 hr shows and my wife & I also noticed that no association fees for condos were discussed on air. My opinion-- potential future buyers (viewers) would gasp at how high they are. Also agree that Chris Hanley did a really nice job and the photography/video made STX very appealing.

Yes, I agree he was great. I was hoping they would mention the association fees for the condos. But as you pointed out they didn't go into it.

House Hunters International episode search, including all HGTV shows also.

6 Stx
6 Stj
2 Stt

http://www.hgtv.com/hgtv/episode_archive/0,1000237,HGTV_32663_576,00.html

(Correct me if my list is wrong.)

Well that sucks for me. I don't know why they didn't want to do another one here. 🙁

Bummed - I don't see it again using search. I missed it - but the search resulted in "True Pirates of the Caribbean" on history channel @ 9:00am on Wednesday next week lol.

according to Sweetlime website the fees are $750 / month.
There was one shot of the twin peaks that have to be from another island.

I watched the show at Chris's house, he had a few friends over including the couple in the second show. He's great, one of the first people that I met when we moved here 15 years ago. He and his family were my neighbors for 7 years. Great people. Family.

The series officially starts in March. This was a sneak preview. He says that they have filmed 8 episodes already but he didn't know the other locations.

Overall, I was pretty disappointed with this show. I agree that Chris Hanley did a nice job, and the show certainly gives STX some great publicity. But in general, the show is just a rehash of Househunters. I was hoping for more about the island each episode focuses on--instead of just more of the "house hunting" stuff, which we all know by now is completely contrived and does not reflect "reality."

I believe the twin peaks were the Pitons of St. Lucia.

Arriving at the Buccaneer on Sunday (1/5).

HOLY COW, by the time you add up the Condo cost and the Monthly association fees for two years, they could have bought a home for that price. What a rip off these association fees are.

Yes, I caught that and went back to make sure my eyes were not decieving me but they were the Pitons.
STX looked wonderful and clean, I might add. Hope it helps with your tourism and economy.

These fees as well as others on island cover yard maintainance, security, and the biggest factor is insurance!!! Maybe covers cable as well.
When looking at buying a house I figured it would cost over $500 / month for insurance ( not hurricane ), yard maintainance, pool maintainance, cable, pest control and alarm security. Since we would not be there full time, these things need to be considered.

Our fees at STC, I believe the cheapest for a ocean side condo, ( realize the ones at Sweetlime are not near the ocean ), are $617 / month and also include water, cable, security, pest control, general maintainance, yard, and the biggie - insurance (inc hurricane).

Some places are as high as $1200 / month:-o

I did think it was weird he was showing the second couple Sweet Lime villa. They said they wanted to be close to Christiansted. Carambola is a good 45 minutes to the Buccaneer where they work. I knew they would go for Southgate. So close to where they work. I think a good choice for them.

I think both shows were very good and Chris did a wonderful job hosting.

I was waiting for someone to point that out. Couples gave Chris a set requirement, and only one of the 3 meet their requirements.

The couple with 3 kids wanted a yard, and he shows them something on a hillside with no yard? Really?

I've used several agents over the years, and run into the same thing, unfortunately...
