Hi All,

Will be making the move New Year's day. Searching the archives for pertinent info. Can't seem to find anything on cell phone providers in STX. Any suggestions which service is better than others?

Thanks again for all the help.

Ace

ATT seems to have the widest coverage.

National Carriers

Sprint

AT&T

Regional/Local

Centennial

Innovative

I use AT&T and it works fine except when WAPA's power goes down then their coverage goes out for most cell tower sites as AT&T does not have working standby power. If you are going to make lots of calls stateside then you probably need to use either a nationwide calling plan from either Sprint or AT&T.

If your cell number is outside the 340 area code don't expect any locals to call you on your cell phone.

Virgin Mobile has been great in terms of no contract, ease of use, and affordability. I will say their customer service is completely inept, but if you never have a special situation (like having to trade a defective phone), then it's good.

Isn't Virgin Mobile just a private label reseller of Sprint's service? I believe taht even though you are buying your service fro Virgin you are using Sprint's network.

Yes, I believe that is the case. I'd still take VM over Sprint because of the prices. Customer svc for all these providers is appalling. I'm done with them altogether. But that's me. 🙂
