Cell service on the west of STT

My husband just relocated to the west of the University on STT and has found that his Sprint cell service doesn't work in the place he is staying. Is that common on the west end? Is that just a Sprint thing, or do Cingular and other cell services not work well there, either? We were thinking of getting permanent housing there, but not having a phone would be a problem.

Thanks for any insight on this!

For the majority of areas, there was no cell service on the West End. Telephone, cable, and internet is spotty also. There are plans for internet and other things, but these things take time...years to get going. When my husband I were looking for homes, we got in the habit of checking cell service and my husband would use a mobile device to check for internet service before we would get interested in a place. He works with wireless internet so it was a must. Good luck, you may find something high on the hill that catches service.
