Can anyone tell me about the cellular phone networks there? I've got a european GSM tri-band without a sim-lock that I was hoping to buy a local sim card for and use on STX. Thanks!

check with Cingular or Sprint.... they are the two carriers on St. Croix. Cingular uses GSM. I'm not sure if Sprint has fully made the switch yet. They hadn't as of a year ago.

maybe Cingular would work with my phone. I saw that sprint and nextel merged. wonder if I would be able to use a nextel boost mobile phone on STX. Any body have any experience with nextel?

At this point in time, there is no Nextel service on STX... not even roaming. Verizon users have roaming coverage here.

We uses Cingular. Sometimes we get dropped calls, but I think that is "typical" for living on an island and going uppppp and dowwwnnnn all the valleys and hills. Other than that, we have been pretty happy with Cingular. Good luck!
