Hi,
We're looking to fly out at the end of this month or early next month. Has anyone come across any good rates (one adult, 2 kids-ages 7 and 10)? When I was looking last week, I found tix in the $240 range and now I'm looking and they're up to $310 plus tax. Any leads would be most appreciated!

Perhaps try to book a flight from whatever city your coming from, to San Juan and then a fare from San Juan to STT on Caribbean Sun airline. For a single person it is $94. round trip vs $156 or so on AA.

Many of the flights you'll book fly through San Juan anyway, so you may save money by booking two seperate tickets yourself.

We can fly out from JFK or La Guardia in NY or Newark, NJ to St. Thomas. I'll look into the AA/Carib. Air end of things.
Thanks

Actually, in combined itineraries (JFK-SJU-STT in one ticket), they add the prices of the two segments together anyway, unless you're getting a special fare. So in most cases you don't have to book two tickets. Just go to Travelocity and book a single itinerary through AA/Caribbean Sun. However, double check and make sure that it isn't more expensive to go all the way to STT through American. If you could stick with the same airline, it would be easier in terms of finding your gate, baggage and stuff like that.

FYI, they have direct flights from all three airports to St. Thomas(LGA on weekends only, though). AA flies from JFK, Continental from EWR, and US Airways from LGA. Check the direct flights if you haven't already. Another thing is to check a Jetblue fare from JFK to San Juan, and book a separate ticket from San Juan to St. Thomas on either AA, Caribbean Sun, Cape Air, or the seaplane... whichever is cheaper and more convenient. JetBlue always has good fares. However, to make a connection in San Juan with JetBlue, you would definitely have to book separate tickets.

Thanks DL,
I went ahead and called AA and booked my tickets. They're a little more than I expected to pay but I'm ok with the final price-$290 each, tax included. We fly out on Aug.3 (OMG!) from JFK at 9:15 AM, arrive in San Juan around 1:00 PM, get to hang around the airport for a few hours before getting on another plane to STT, landing at our final destination at 5:15 PM. Can't wait!

The Admirals Club at the San Juan airport is by gate 12. Nice place to spend time. Unfortunately it is not like some international Admiral's clubs. They charge for adult beverages.

Enjoy your trip.

You should be very happy with $290. I booked this morning, after searching for over 2 weeks, cheapest fare from Atlant to Stt, throught Charlotte, on US Air $502. And that was booked on hotwire.com without knowing the airline or the flight schedule! Wish I were in Newark.

Barefoot Bubba,
Did you book one-way or round trip? The one-way tickets are usually a lot more than round trip, which makes absolutely no sense to me....

Suzanne,
I booked round trip. It was the first time that I had booked a trip with hotwire.com. I really didn't like to idea of not knowing the schedule or the airline, but needed to get to STT for my step-daughter's wedding. They said it had only one stop, so figured it had to be Charlotte, Miami, or San Juan. Funny thing though, about a week later, the same flight was listed for $406. You never know about the crazy airlines. My wife booked her flight direct with Delta about a month earlier, for $339 rt. I wasn't sure I could go at that time so I didn't book a flight for me. (I should have and took my chances). Her flight is non-stop, which is the flight we always take. Have you found any good deals lately? Good luck and keep us informed.
