Could anyone tell me approximately what the upload and download speeds would be with "Choice" high speed wireless internet. I was unable to get a clear answer from "Choice". Also what might be the real cost. Any info will be appreciated.

I use Choice and my upload varies between 80 kbps and 120 kbps- download varies between 160 kbps and 226 kbps. Getting service took all of 15 minutes at the Choice store at Peters Rest. Easiest and quickest service on the island. I can also run my stateside voip service from Packet 8 on the network-- no STX number available.

Stephen go to packet 8.com and check them out. It is voip... voice over internet protocall... kind of like vonage only cheaper at 19.95 per month. Works like a landline phone but you'd have no 911 capability and people in the VI might be reluctant to call you because of long distance charges to a mainland number- plus your calls out to VI numbers are at 9 cents a minute whereas mainland is inclusive with the monthly fee. You can not get a local VI number with it.

Iguana,

Thanks for the info! It seems like the thread (Re: Possible alternative to local ISPs (if available here???) shows the sprint card had better numbers and there is a router made for it. Think I'll test it before jumping into "Choice"! How much are they charging you per month for "Choice" internet?

Thanks for the help!
