Hello All,
There was such great replies to all the other discussions i hope someone could give me some insight on the situation on the islands there.

I am an advertising designer, with a background in design and marketing ,in Philadelphia looking to relocate to the islands and find work ( doesnt have to be in my industry but i would preffer) Me and my girlfriend were looking to go on sabbaticle for about a year and was wondering about apartment rentals and job opportunities.

Any insight or tips for us?

Thanks To All

Welcome to the board. I've been reading the posts since June and am still living in the desert, but will, someday, uproot and move. My background is similar to yours and I haven't found any work in that field yet. Hope springs eternal.

Suggest you do a search (look up) for the answers to just about any of your questions. Start with [ PMV ]. Stands for "Pre Move Visit" and is highly recommended by everyone. Allows you to get a feel for island living. They say to stay at least a week, rent a car and check it out (remember to drive on the left to avoid headaches). I understand rum drinks are another prerequisite for PMV's since it's produced on STX (that's St. Croix for those who, like myself, may be abbreviatedly challenged).

Your next search should be something like: "How many kids, cows, ruddabegas do I have to sell before moving to paradise?", or, BLOC (now there's a challenge).

Good luck on your search and, if you find work, see if they have 2 openings.

Hello Robert,

Try the yellow pages www.viphonebook.com for advertising firms and call/fax resume. You might also contact the on island publications for work in their advertising dept. doing graphic work, ad design (newspapers, tourist publications).

Which island were you considering?
