Anyone have any insight on the construction market in STX? We are relocating early this year and would like to open a satellite construction office in STX if the market will bear it. Thanks in advance!

there aren't very many property developers on STX. Most of the new homes under construction are being built by the owners personally. There is a need for developers and builders to construct pre-sales and spec homes for buyers coming from the mainland. There are procedures new biz owners in the industry on STX need to learn and relationships to develop with the various permit and application offices, as well as suppliers and labor sources. Things are done a bit differently here. Come prepared to face some frustration while you go through the learning process about how things are done on the island.
Bottom line is that we do have a need for new construction.
