Hello and Happy New Year!
Are country music, bars, dancing, etc. available on STT or STX? If so, please let me know where and any other recommendations.
Muchas Gracias -
Michelle

Which country? Kidding. I don't think there are any country clubs on STX. Outlaw in Paradise does a mix of rock and country, but not really country.

Michelle,

Nothing at all on St. John. On St. Thomas, the OFFSHORE BAR at Port of Sale Mall by Havensight has country nights on like Wednesday and Thursday, they use a DJ, and that's about it for STT and STJ.

This kills me because I play country music professionally and I can hardly find ANYONE here to work with!

Something I believe people don't understand or get just yet: Country Music isn't what it used to be..........................

HAPPY NEW YEAR and good luck to you

Well, there IS the Texas Chili Cook-Off that occurs in September each year. Nothin' like a little two-steppin' in the sand....

I heard recently that the Cane Bay Beach Bar, on STX , has country music on Sunday afternoons. I think it's the same Outlaw band that Linda J. mentioned. We might check it out tomorrow on the way back from Mt. Victory. If there's any two-stepping going on, I'll let you know.

I saw quite a bit of country dancing at Chicken Charlies when we made a brief stop there on New Years Eve. I dont know if its a regular event though.

I don't think Outlaws in Paradise allow sit-ins from the audience.

That's too bad..........................sometimes the audience has "A" List players. Although more often than not this isn't the case. Do they have a website? I'm starving for some pro quality country players over here on STT

Cane Bay did indeed have country music this afternoon. Outlaws in Paradise play every other Sunday. They were quite good, and people were dancing, even a little two-stepping, but not enough to call it real country dancing.

Michelle, I don't think this is what you're looking for, but maybe if you get some people together, you can start a country line dance group, or something, to meet there every other Sundays.

Dylan, sorry I didn't see your post until just now, so I didn't know to ask about sitting in.

Dylan, Joe's Beach Bar on Honeymoon Beach/Water Island has a Sunday jam session. Everyone is welcome to bring instrument, set-up, whatever style music is appreciated and enjoyed. They plug in the electric at the Pavillion and Joe & Melissa have a really good mix and usually a big crowd going for these sessions.

some of the Hovensa contractors put together musical groups that play for their own parties or sometimes are for hire. One of the groups plays at the Golden Rail sometimes and at Chicken Charlies and elsewhere. Some of the musicians rotate as new contractors come and go. Most often, they play quite a bit of country music plus some zydeco and rock are thrown in. You don't often see a lot of country dancing, though.

You might enjoy checking out the occasional Quadrille events that get held around the island, often as fund-raisers. Hundreds of people show up to dance.
