Crew positions

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has insights into the charter sailing business there. I actually came down in 1988 (before I became a father), and got a job working on a 65' (including pay, room and board) ketch within about two hours of landing on the island. I worked there that fall.

Now that my son is about to graduate (lives with his mom), I want to return to the charter sailing business, first as crew.

Questions are:

-when is the best time to come down (I think I arrived in mid-September last time)?
-do you know of any clearing-house for crew?
-do you know of any low-cost rooms for rent(including renting a bedroom in a private home) while I seek a berth on a boat for the 06-07 charter season?
-can you direct me to any charter companies/boat owners who may have positions opening up?

Thanks for your any input you can share!

Leif

Hi,

I'm sorry. Should have mentioned that. I'll arrive in St. Thomas, as many boats are based out of Charlotte Amalie.

Thanks,

Leif
