Excerpt:

"Encarnacion said people should not hesitate to call in acts of animal cruelty that will be acted on immediately. He said animal cruelty is taken seriously and is a felony. Crimestoppers will partner with the Crime Prevention Unit and St. Croix Animal Welfare Center."

(Let's hope so!)

I'm highly skeptical. Authorities have never taken past abuses against animals seriously so why would do a 180 and now start acting immediately?

Of course, I'm all in favor of the initiative, but we all know how the VI is all talk no action.

It's a step in the right direction.
We all know how things can go but if there's going to be a change then, at the very least, we can call things in to report. Better than doing nothing, especially when it can save a life, human or animal.

There's even an app.

P3TIPS Mobile Application that can be downloaded free on, phones, computers, Androids, Apples and tablets. Tips can still be called in to 1-800-222-TIPS.

“The tips may be submitted any time and any where,” Dunton said. “If you see something, please say something.”

The STX Animal Welfare Center is working closely with one VIPD Detective. We are trying to find a "friend" in the Attorney General's office to help prosecute cases.

The constant negativity really should be curbed as it's so unproductive. Crime Stoppers has proved to be an excellent program and this widening of their scope should be embraced, not criticized.

Beeski, not only find a friend in AG's office but in the court system with a judge.
Fingers crossed and I'm praying we can, indeed, make progress with prosecuting
animal abuse offenders. If we don't try, we definitely won't succeed and things remain the same.

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke quotes

I did say that I was in favor of the initiative.
