What's the most comfortable transportation from Cyril E. King Airport (STT) to Tortola, BVI? By "comfortable", I mean the shortest total time, low probability of cancellation, and easy customs clearing. Thanks.

Thanks. I've just checked Cape Air, and they don't have any flights on my day. There is also Air Sunshine, right?

What about the ferry? Do I need to get to Red Hook, or is there another ferry terminal from where I can get to Tortola?

You should be able to take the ferry from the waterfront in CA to Roadtown. Check on the Native Son or Bomba Charger, etc.

Before you take Air Sunshine check the online reviews.

Check Capitol Air, though they are a charter. If somebody has booked, you're an add on.

Ferry schedule:

Generally the preferred method of transportation between the two islands and you can go directly from the CA ferry terminal and not Red Hook. If you're traveling from stateside to Tortola you should look into direct flights which are obviously much simpler.

Thanks, all. Yes, I'll be traveling from the stateside to Tortola. Looking at the map of my rental property in Tortola, it appears that the ferry from Charlotte Amalie ferry terminal (STT) to West End ferry terminal (Tortola) is what I want. I assume I can clear customs in West End, meaning that I don't have to travel to Road Town for that. Correct?

Correct. BVI Customs and Immigration have clearance facilities at both ferry terminals and at the airport. They're not so trusting to think that visitors would disembark unchecked and make their way to another facility for clearance ...

If you're returning to STT for your return trip to the US you'll also clear back into the USVI and then again at the STT airport.

Have you checked direct flights from NC to Tortola? Way simpler.

There are no flights from anywhere in the US to Tortola, so I would have to take 3 different planes:
-- Raleigh to Fort Lauderdale (or to Atlanta)
-- Fort Lauderdale (or Atlanta) to San Juan (PR)
-- San Juan to Beef Island (Tortola)

According to my calculations, this would be faster:
-- Raleigh to Miami
-- Miami to STT
-- Taxi to CA ferry
-- CA ferry to West End (Tortola)

Am I missing anything?

Of course there are - I didn't say they were direct flights. Whatever works for you - it was a simple suggestion.

When we lived on the mainland we found it easiest to fly to STT and take the ferry from CA to Roadtown. customs is easier. We flew a couple of time into Beef Island but customs can be a pain and with small airplanes sometime baggage can get left off due to weight. So go with the ferry.I would not fly Air Sunshine.....
