How is the dating scene is St. Thomas. Do people date a lot or is everybody tied down?

Hello Jenna,

I think you will find your intial social group and potential dates, or folks you go out with in a group will be other students, particularly if you are staying on campus. There will certainly be some students who are tied down - by a girl/boy friend, by a spouse, by children, by studies... but a fair share of potential dates too. For your age group not sure where else you would meet them besides school... maybe the beach, bars, work...

Not intending to be too personal... if you are white and opposed to inter-racial dating keep in mind that the majority of the population here is black. When I attended the university, of the students from the US mainland that I knew... many of the guys hung out in groups, dated both other students from the mainland and dated local girls. The girls tended to hang out in groups and to date other students from the mainland. Only a few of the girls dated local guys and it never seemed long term as the guys relationships appeared. Was a bit strange really... in my experience there were often more men then women as far as students from the states and for sure the students from the states hung out together. This may have changed but is something to think about.

Hope this helps.
