My grandson aged 14 is an avid "cook". He is also an avid watcher of the Food network, and creates his own concoctions .. some which are very good. Do you or anyone else know of " Chef's classes for kids or a cooking school that wil take serious 14 year olds
Thanks

Antilles school had an after school cooking class for years taught by Mrs. Watts -- maybe give them a call.

Hi Sauceress I wish I could give you more info. I have thought about teaching a cooking class and in the past when I checked on other cooking classes, I didn't come up with much.

I know the Complex has the kitchen set up and I've even met the cooking teacher. When we talked, he made it sound like I could set something up and teach a class using their facilities. I've tried to call him a few times and only got a message with no return call.

It's great to hear about your grandson getting so excited about cooking. I started my career when I was 14 at my father's restaurant. Portioning liver, picking up cigarette butts and toothpicks from the parking lot, peeling potatoes, washing dishes...you know, the really important stuff 🙂

Most child labor laws allow children under 16 to work as long as they don't exceed a certain number of hours a week and they don't work past 8 p.m. on a school night, or something to that tune. If he's really interested, try to get him a dishwashing job somewhere on island a few nights a week so he can see the REAL kitchen world. It's not all smiley Crocs and book signings like FoodTV sometimes advertises. I think working your way up in a kitchen at a young age builds a strong work ethic for life. Some people thrive on the kitchen chaos, some people are scared away.

Sorry I don't have more info. Anybody else know about cooking classes?

Noah
