Direct flight from Orlando to STX

Hello - I recall seeing somewhere that there is a direct flight from Orlando to STX. Can anyone tell me if this is correct and if yes, what airline/days of the week. We're trying to plan a trip for my mother in law, but all we're finding requires two stops from Orlando or is outrageously priced.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I have not seen a direct from Orlando to STX. There are direct flights to STX from Miami.

From the mainland are only direct flights from Miami (American), Charlotte and Atlanta (US Airways and Delta or vice versa). From Orlando, you could take a flight to Miami and then to STX (only one stop).

the cheapest way may be to book separate flights with whoever gets you to San Juan and then book with Jet Blue from San Juan to Orlando. That flight was 74 each way when I took it.

Just be careful when you do this, especially when checking bags across non allied carriers. There are a few things to look out for.

1) Baggage charges. If you have to check them twice you will pay twice.
2) Inconvenience with bags. You will have to leave security, get your bags, then go re-check them with the second carrier (paying again e.g. number 1). If your bags are "lost" on the first flight I'm not sure what you will do to get them to your final destination. Especially on the way to the island if the carrier you use doesn't even come to STX.
3) Realize that if your "connecting" flight is non-refundable and there is a delay on your initial flight you will likely get hit for a change fee which is usually around $150 (depends on airline).

My daughter in Orlando is coming for a visit in April, so I have been checking flights. I looked at JetBlue, and they actually had $59 each way to/from San Juan. Add tax and fees, and it came to $134. Best flight I found San Juan to STX was $227, so you are at $359 (assuming you can actually get the $59 rate for a flight that gets you to SJU in time to connect. Sure it's limited). Best I found otherwise was American, Orlando to STX for $419, inclusive. I would take the $419 for all the reasons Sean listed.

American and Delta are extremely expensive and require long flights, mostly morning flights. I always fly with Jetblue (best deals 59, 89, 99), great airline. I take about 2 hours in case delays, which never happened, and take Cape Air. If your not travelling with heavy luggages, you can always try with Seabourne airlines. Note: they charge for luggages per pound, including purses, everything.

Remember Seaborne does not fly out of San Juan Marin Airport. So you need to get from the big airport, to the little airport, Isla Grande. Probably a $15-$20+ taxi, and allow for traffic.
