Hello all! I am planning on putting the majority of my belongings in storage in my parents hometown before I move to STX. Are there any stores like Goodwill, Salvation Army, or discount stores similar to Ross or Marshall's there for odds and ends I might need to get once I move? Just wondering if there was a way I didn't have to pay full retail for stuff like dog towels. Thanks! :@)

You have Mr. Dollar and Nigel's 1,2,3. Right off hand, I'd say those are the most common.

The stuff at the animal shelter thrift store is cheap, cheap, cheap! And in variable condition, and one-of-a-kind.

Just an FYI, most rentals are fully furnished, including house wares. Having said....there's always "specialty" items you will want that won't be included in the rental. If you have already found a place to live, ask your future landlord what's included, and then, if it's just small items you will want to add, either bring with or plan to pick up at the above mentioned places or Kmart.

Rumors of a Marshall's coming to STX. Any updates, anyone??

OH...and the landlord will very much appreciate you picking up some old towels of your own for the dog! 🙂

Not any good thrift stores here like there are stateside. The animal shelter flea market is the closest to one but nothing good there last long. I would buy the stuff you want to take with you there, stuff here is pretty hit or miss. But the good news is the internet works just fine. And most of the rentals for one person are furnished. Everyone lives simply here so you won't need much stuff anyways. Bring the hobby stuff, computer stuff, entertainment stuff, and clothes. You can get everything else little by little.

I thought the rumor of Marshall's was "soon come" to STT by Tutu Park Mall.

I sent email to Marshall's customer service department. Received the following response:

> Although we have no current plans for a new store in the St. Thomas area, we have forwarded your request to our Real Estate Department for their review.
