Dog boarding STT

I am looking for recommendations on where to board my dog while we go on a ten day holiday. We are on St. Thomas and fairly new to the island. Our dog is a Shitzu cross and 12 years old. I would prefer not having him in his kennel all day - I want him to have some freedom. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Check with local vets for house/dog sitting recommendations.

I have a referral for a GREAT house/pet sitter on STT. Her name is Susan - she is extremely reliable and great with animals. Her number is 512-689-7049.

Thanks for the info on the vets. The one I go to will kennel my dog, but only let him out of his kennel twice or three times a day, the rest of the time he will be locked up.

Thanks keno for the referral - will think about it. Don't know if I am comfortable having someone come into the place I am renting.

It's always a hard choice to hire a house-sitter but if I have to be away, I prefer having someone actually staying in the house with the dogs.
With 4 dogs and a stray cat to feed, water and make sure that they do not get into any mischief due to lack of adult supervision (like kids), it makes more sense to me for my particular situation. It is also cost prohibitive to board that many animals!

The vets can usually refer someone they know and trust. My pet/house sitter just relocated so glad to have a referral, myself.
Good Luck with which ever way you decide!

If you do board - make sure to order a bath for the day you return so you pick up a nice, clean, sweet smelling pup!
