I have two dogs that will not fit below the seat, and I am looking for airlines to use to get all the way there with One passanger and two dogs. Going to STT. A few airlines say they take dogs, but not all the way to STT. Any information or previous experiences would help. Coming from Phoenix, AZ.

Thanks, Jon

jon-

i have recently booked a flight on american airlines for myself, my s/o, and our 3 kitties. the airline was very polite and accommodating. even tho' i'm flying w/cats, i thought you would find my story of interest b/c they're all pretty big -- one weighs 25 lbs.!!-- and i have to check them since there's no way they will fit under the seats. plus there's 3 of them. hope this helps.

Have you been there before to live or vacation and what are your thoughts on St. Thomas.

Thanks, Jon

American Airlines accomodates dogs, however all airlines have very strict rules for flying if the temp is over 85 degrees-- they will not take your dog if it's 85 or higher. luckily at this time of year, shouldn't be a huge problem for you, but i'd definitely book a night flight or early morning flight just to be sure. cape air also takes dogs, if you were to fly into PR and then catch one of their island-hoppers-- and since it's such a little plane, they literally remove the seat and strap the dog in right next to you! i never investigated flying with 2 dogs, but best of luck! make your reservations early-- i think it's about $150 to fly with a dog.

Jon,

We're going to be on St. Thomas. My husband has an offer from the Marriott but I think he'll end up going to the Ritz because they will pay more of our moving expenses. Is the Green House going to pay any of your moving expenses? I'm an attorney and I have a few bites from law firms out here. I'm on the higher end of the pay scale for someone with my experience here in Arizona, but I don't know if that's going to translate to St. Thomas pay. My research says it will but we'll see. We got married in St. Thomas 7 years ago and stayed an additional two weeks longer than we planned. We've been back about 5 times (without our two kids) and have loved each visit. I certainly realize that vacationing in St. Thomas is much different than living there. You know how great the housing market is in Arizona. We just bought a brand new house in August. The same house we live in here in Arizona would easily be over 1 or 2 million in St. Thomas. That will take some getting used to - but in the end I think it will be worth it. Have you looked at the housing in St. Thomas? What do you think?

Thanks,

Kelli

Yes they are going to pay for flight and a plave for a period of adjustment?. My wife is a library assistant at the phoenix public library and will soon have her masters from UofA in Library science. I own a house in the older section of Tempe and I am going to keep it as a rental. I believe we are going to rent for the first year and go from there. My wife has never been to St. Thomas and it has been a number of years since I have been there. I would like to purchase an older 4 or 6 plex and fix it up paint, flooring, etc. nothing to major to create a free living environment if all goes well but most modern housing seems to be a bit out of our price range.

When are you moving down and is this for a year, two, or for an indefinite time period?

Are you shipping all of your furnishings? How and How much will it cost? I believe we are going to store all of our belongings to start and if all goes well have them shipped at a later date.

Have a great day,
Jon

We're going to move everything out now. I'm going to rent my house out and find a rental house in St. Thomas. After a year we'll buy a house. We're moving in Feb. or March. This will be at least for a year. The plan is to make it permanent. I'll let you know when I get shipping quotes. My oldest daughter is going to go to Antilles, a private school at least until she's old enough for first grade and then we'll survey our options with the public schools. They have a library there - maybe your wife could check into a position there - I know that school librarians often do a lot more with curriculum and activities for the children. What is a "plave for a period of adjustment?" I've never heard of that. One more question - did they offer you the flight and the money for "adjustment" - I'm trying to figure out if that is standard in the industry.

Take care,

Kelli

You said you husband is a rest. manager?

I am a FOM and my boyfriend is a F&B Manager

Please give us any details they offered you?

Thanks

Hi there, We're from the Phx. area, and are thinking about getting a place on STX. we wouldn't be able to move there for 5 years, when my wife retires, but are thinking about a place to spend as much time as possible.
Would it be too much to ask of you to keep me posted @ nxcess@cox.net about how you are doing there, and how you like or dislike it?
Thanks
Terry
