Dogs and fishooks a lesson learned

Good morning all,

For a reminder for those on STX or any of the islands. Watch out for your dog when walking. Sunday while walking my dog on the boardwalk my dog ate a fishhook some idiot left lying on the boardwalk. She is OK but this guy had fishhooks strewn all about where anyone could step on them or a dog could eat them. When I approached him ( a little ruder than I should have) he just shrugged and walked away. I was ready to kill and told him so. Probably not smart as he could have hurt me. He could care less, so much for personal accountability. My dog is OK and lesson learned, be careful. I've always watched for chicken bones but add this to the list.

Ouch! Many years ago when I moved here and brought my dog with me, she was similarly zapped on a remote Northside beach where we were doing some rock-climbing. The damned thing went right through her lip and it seemed like an eternity hiking back up to the car and getting home to remove it with her whimpering all the way. Don't ever try and pull them out either - especially not the ones with the barbs. You need to cut the shaft with pliers to remove them.
