DOME HOME TIME

As I have mentioned in the last 10 months I intend to build a monolithic double dome home on STX and I am happy to say I will arrive to start the process June 1st. I will be building on Mt.Fancy overlooking the most awesome Great Pond Bay. This is a state of the art project that will be the color of the bay. Never would wish a hurricane on anyone but this facility will be the cats meow in such an occurrance.I am prepared for a slow start during approvals but start I will. YAHOO!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking of doing the same thing....how strange. I live in Carbondale, IL...where Buckmeister himself was. The original dome house is still here today. I wish the city itself respected it more, though.

I work in a dome facility that was built in 1972. Saved us from Hurricane Francis and Jeanne. The only thing that can destroy it is a F-5 tornado. Why didn't I think of building one of those on the island. Great idea!

Tedd, I'm very excited to hear about your building plans. I've dreamed for years of building a dome, and what a better place for you to do it but on STX overlooking a beautiful bay! I have lots of questions and interest in the whole building process you have and will go thru.

My wife and I were on STX about a month ago for a PMV and are still on track to be on island within the month. We are looking at buying some land and are looking at a caribbean round house to build. I would love to talk with you more. Please check your private messages for a more detailed message from me.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Tedd,

Congratulations to you for the beginning of such an exciting project. We lived in Florida this last year and had 3 of the 4 hurricanes go right over our home. We started looking into Dome Homes at that time. They look incredible. We are also looking to move to St. Croix in the next year and had actually asked our realtor if there were any Dome Homes on the island yet. We thought we may be the first! But we will be happy to learn from your experiences. It sounds as if you may be starting a Dome Home building company on island??

We are excited to hear about your progress!!

Mark and Kat

Hi Tedd,

Will you be working with a specific Dome Home company? If so, do they have a website?

Thanks, Kat

I have a partner and we hope to build more dome homes together after we complete mine. No web site for us but the style of home can be seen under Monolithic dome.
