Anyone have an idea how we can get our records from Dr. Bishop's office? I've called his office number and it just rings and rings, no answering machine or pickup.

This has gotten me worried as we had just started a new protocol treatment for me the afternoon before he died. I really need my records!

We use Dr. Lynn Campbell and like him quite a bit. Any Dr. you make an appointment with have you sign a release for the records. They will send to whomever the contact is for Dr. Bishops office and will get your records directly. I'm not sure about how this next part works here, but in the states when a Dr. requests a patients med records as a professional courtesy it is done gratis. If the patient requests them there is a fee

I was told there is a notice on his office door that addresses the records issue. I haven't been there so I can't verify or tell you what it says.

There is nothing on the office door concerning records and no one answers the phone. Has anyone heard anything else about how to get our records from his office ?

Does he have a home phone listed in phone book?
Maybe you can get info from who he rented his office space from?
You could also get information on where he lived if he owned property from the recorder of deeds office.
Good luck.

He was our neighbor, but since he's dead I doubt he will answer the door. We spoke to the office staff at his memorial service and they were making arrangements for records. If I find out any more details I will post them.

I thought he may have been married so there may have been someone to answer the phone or he has relatives settling his affairs.
If you know the names of his staff, you could try to contact them for info.

FYI when a Dr dies, by law any scripts he has written dies with him. If you are on maint meds (blood pressur etc) you should make arrangements to start seeing another physician while you are trying to retrieve your records.

Good luck on getting your records. When I came to the island I brought thirty years of medical records with me.

When I left Dr Bishops practice I paid $5.00 and got four pages of records back. All my medical history was gone.

Dr. Bishop's family has sold the practice to Dr. Gardiner. You may carry on with Gardiner or you may pick up your records from the office. I will be picking up my records.
